San Jose Invisalign
No metal, no brackets, and no wires. Invisalign® invisible braces are clear, so people won’t notice you’re wearing them. They beautifully align your teeth in half the time of traditional braces. And our dentists are preferred providers of Invisalign.
How Does Invisalign Work?
Instead of brackets and wires, clear, custom-made aligners are used to straighten your teeth. We take pictures, x-rays, and impressions of your teeth. We will use the information to make a 3-D image of your teeth and a treatment plan to move them precisely. The model and treatment plan are used to make the customized aligners. The number of aligners you receive depends on the length of your treatment plan. Although each case is unique, the average treatment time is about one year.
When the aligners are ready, you will come to our office to receive try on the first set. We will check them for correct fit. You will receive additional aligners—each set designed to move your teeth to a new position. When you first put on a new set of aligners, you will notice that they feel as if they don’t fit correctly. That’s because they are molded in a new position to which your teeth will move. In a few days, the aligners will be more comfortable, but you should continue to wear them for the entire two-week period. This allows time for your teeth to adjust to the new position.
You will wear the aligners all day and night, except when you’re eating and drinking, or flossing and brushing your teeth. Every two weeks, you will switch to a new set of aligners. Approximately every six to eight weeks, you will return to our office for a progress check and any needed adjustments.
After Your Treatment Is Complete
After you have worn all of the aligners, you will have a beautifully aligned smile. You will need to wear a retainer to keep your teeth aligned. Depending on your case, you will wear a fixed retainer or a clear retainer, similar to Invisalign aligners.
Advantages of Invisalign
- The movement of your teeth is so precise that treatment time is shorter—half the time of traditional braces.
- From a conversational distance, people won’t notice that you’re wearing them.
- It’s easier to maintain good oral hygiene than with traditional braces. You take the aligners off when you eat, and when you floss and brush your teeth.
- They are much more comfortable than traditional braces. There is no wire or metal that will irritate your gums and teeth.
