Teeth Whitening from a Dentist
We provide professional-strength whitening gel. The whitening agent in over-the-counter strips is only a fraction of the strength. Whitening toothpaste only removes surface stains. Depending on the cause of the stains in your teeth, the products you try may have no effect at all.
In some cases, bleaching gel can make the stains in your teeth more noticeable. We will examine your teeth to anticipate the results you will get and to determine the best treatment to get them their whitest.
Options for Teeth Whitening
In-office treatment
In just three or four 20-minute sessions, you can leave our office with a brilliantly white smile. It’s the fastest way to get your teeth their whitest. We offer Opalescence® Boost in-office teeth whitening. For best results, we recommend that you receive whitening treatment after your teeth have been professionally cleaned and polished.
Before the bleaching gel is applied, your lips and cheeks will be retracted. After your teeth are rinsed and thoroughly dried, bleaching gel will be applied to each tooth. The gel will stay on your teeth for 20 minutes. After the treatment, we will remove the gel and check the shade of your teeth. The process will be repeated two or three times until your teeth have reached the desired shade. When treatment is complete, we will suction all of the gel from your teeth and thoroughly rinse them. If additional whitening is needed, you will have another appointment is approximately five days. You will do periodic touch-ups at home to maintain your sparkling smile.
Take-home treatment
A second and less expensive option is Opalescence® take-home treatment. The results will be just as effective, but not as fast as in-office treatment.
We will take impressions of your teeth to make custom-fitted bleaching trays. You will also receive professional-strength bleaching gel. Each day, you will squeeze a small amount of gel from a syringe into each space in the trays. You will wear the trays for the specified amount of time each day. Remove the excess gel with a toothbrush and thoroughly rinse your mouth.
Each day, you will see your teeth get progressively whiter. In approximately two weeks, the results will be stunning. If you want to get your teeth even brighter, let us know and we will give you instructions for further whitening. Periodic touch-ups will help you maintain your bright smile.
